Shorelines

The effects of changing climate on the environment and natural heritage areas are strong invitations to reflect on time, change, impermanence, and one’s place in the moment. For fifteen years I have photographed a two mile shoreline of a barrier island off the coast of South Carolina, watching the shore shifting, moving, ever changing. My visit to a barrier island off the Georgia coast mirrored the movement and inspired this series. The images are a meditation on the dynamics of impermanence I have witnessed along the southern Eastern shore. My hope is that their natural beauty will contribute to the growing awareness of what humanity is loosing.
