Joshua Tree National Park is one of the world’s incredible natural desert treasures. Two desert ecosystems, the Mojave and the Colorado, come together in the California park. The area is characterized by rugged granite rock formations and sweeping landscape that supports both natural and cultural resources. I photographed inside the park in 2008. Later, I began visiting areas outside of Sante Fe, New Mexico, that also are significant for their cultural and natural resources. This series is the result of my response to those areas.
