About This Project

Trees are our constant companions. Until recently, the main perception of trees has been as resources for human needs. Now we understand that trees have amazing underground communication and networks, and form a type of community of their own. I wanted to respond to this perception of the tree as part of a living community by photographing both “portraits” and group images of these woody beings. In this series I set out to capture unique personalities of trees and tree communities, as they respond to their environments and environmental elements.
